Quick update on life...

I've been going to college for about a week now, and it makes me sad that I wasted four years in high school. High school just really, really, really sucked.

I loooove my American Politics class, so hopefully that's a good indicator that I'll like political science.

The workload has been pretty huge, but I'll get used to it. Kinda have to.

Socially, it hasn't been too amazing. Lots of drinking and partying, which isn't so much my scene. Alcohol tends to give me mystery bruises and make me itchy.

I had to quit working at Pine Valley because it would basically be impossible to balance that in there. But I'll probably be back around Christmas break, because the pay was pretty much amazing.

This was a bit dry, but I have to save the creative energy for English.

I will be free in 2 weeks.

Goals/Plans for the summer:
-Bank at least $2000 by September
-Go to Cubs game with Clint!
-Get a car
-Learn to be a more patient person
-Read Shogun
-Get down to 105
-John Mayer/Ben Folds concert... It will be amazing!
-Talk to at least 2 new people everyday.
-Campaign for Edwards
-Forgive and forget... probably my biggest downfall.
-Go on a road trip with no predetermined destination... though, gas prices may challenge that.
-Get a tan
-Sleep outside
-Start writing a book, instead of haphazardly writing passages on random scraps of paper
-Learn how to play my whole Ben Folds music book.
-Sleep like a normal person and get up early so my day isn't wasted.

That's all I can think of right now... what about yours?

One Big Happy Blog of FUN

I hate:
cranky teachers
loud obnoxious sophomores
dress code violations
deadlines
podcasts
huge projects
getting up early
senior assemblies
people stealing my pencils
econ
how the main staircase is right next to my locker
math that is completely irrelevant
chemistry
being sleepy
and having no motivation.

Some things really get to me...

I love hearing that one's education will pave way towards a brighter future.  What I find perplexing however, is the security or lack thereof present in our schools.

As evidenced today, a gunman was able to singlehandedly kill at least 32 students and faculty and injure "dozens" before ultimately killing himself.  How are we able to reach the so-called "brighter future" if we're incapacitated and/or dead (to put it quite bluntly)?

I also heard on the news that troops were calling home to verify as to whether or not their friends and families were okay and safe from the massacre. Perhaps this is presumptuous, but I can't imagine how a troop must feel if learning that their heroic deeds in a foreign country were obsolete in protecting their loved ones.

The War on Terror has has portrayed the security of our heartland inefficiently, as much focus (not to mention funding) has been implemented towards international (and arguably counterproductive) affairs.  The massacre at Virginia Tech was unexpected and inexplicable, much like September 11 and other global acts of terror.

Has the very prosperity and welfare of the nation become threatened by the nation itself?
